Memorial Day:
We will be closed Monday due to Memorial Day. Our daycare will be closed as well. Enjoy the day and we will see our children back Tuesday and Wednesday! Wednesday will be our last day. Our daycare and Cub Care will be open for business Thursday and all summer long (except July 4th)!

On My Way Pre-K:
We are still searching for all four-year-olds (four by August 1, 2017), so we can sign them up for preschool next year! EES is one of the few schools in Indiana who will receive federal dollars for our preschool! We need to find everyone who will fall between the following income guidelines to qualify for this funding! Please spread the word and help us find the four-year-olds who will qualify to come to preschool/daycare free of charge full day next year. Parents must be working or going to school to qualify. We are searching for every four-year-old in Elwood and may be able to enroll a few children in surrounding communities as well. This program will allow us to keep the cost down for everyone who attends! Please call 765-552-7381 or go to the school to sign up NOW!

Field Day:
We had a blast on Field Day! Thank you, Mrs. Renbarger and fifth grade students who helped! It was a beautiful day!

Awards Day:
Our Celebration Day program will be held in the gym Tuesday, May 30th at 12:45 p.m. We have FUN and CELEBRATE the year! A few awards will be given in the gym but most will be given in the classrooms (probably during the morning so we don’t run out of time). Come join the excitement in the afternoon!

Summer School:
If you received notice to send your child to summer school, please send your forms back Tuesday if you have not done so. Summer school begins the last week of June and goes 15 days (all but July 3rd and 4th). Students will be here from 8:30 - 12:00 with free breakfast and lunch.

Summer Feeding Program:
Remember the school system has a free lunch program throughout the summer at Callaway Park! I will have more information for you soon!

Summer Camps:
I have emailed summer packets to you. Please turn those in as soon as possible! We need new applications for everyone who will be attending (ages 5-13). The daycare children will not have to turn in new forms.

Background Checks:
Don’t forget to get your background check early this year if you are going on field trips, visiting classrooms, or volunteering at school. Go to http://www.elwood.k12.in.us/volunteer-page/ to sign up for a five-year plan!

Marsh Fresh Idea Cards:
Don't forget to sign up for your Marsh Fresh Idea cards and name Elwood Elementary as the place you want your points to go!  We were able to earn lots of important free items for our school last year through this program!   Visit Marsh atwww.marsh.net to sign up or complete the forms we sent home!

Do You Need Additional Assistance?
Please call 765-552-4562 to speak with Trisha Sullivan, Health Access Worker at St.Vincent Mercy Hospital if you need assistance with:
· Finding a doctor
· Applying for health coverage (Medicaid, HIP, Medicare, HHW)
· Applying for public programs (Food Stamps, TANF, Social Security, WIC, Breast and Cervical Cancer Program) or Connections to other community resources and agencies for assistance.  Health Access Workers are here to help you with all your needs. When you come into the hospital or doctor's office for services, be sure to let the staff know you are  working with Trisha Sullivan. That way, we can better serve you by working together as a team to help you remove any barriers to you and your family’s health.

Update on Immunizations:
Every child (K-12) must have 2 Varicella (chickenpox vaccines) by the beginning of next school year. Please check with your family doctors or Mrs. Bock if you are not sure about your child’s immunizations. You may also want to check on Hepatitis A for your little ones at home.

Don't forget to sign up for your Fresh Idea Card at Marsh and make us your school of choice!

Internet Essentials:
Internet - Some of you were asking about the Internet Essentials program that allows parents of children on the free or reduced lunch plan to qualify for this internet program for $9.95 a month. You may also take advantage of buying a low-cost computer and receive Internet training at no additional charge. The number to call is 1-855-846-8376.  Hope that helps!
